Panjshir has been serving the flavors of Kabul to the Falls Church community since 1985. Founded by Aziz Niazy, who came to the United States with a dream of sharing authentic Afghan cuisine, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite. As one of the first to introduce Northern Virginia to signature dishes like Kadu Palow, Aziz earned a reputation for preserving the traditional flavors of home with care and pride.
Over the years, Panjshir has remained a family affair. Today, the restaurant is managed by Aziz’s son, Esmat Niazy, while the kitchen is led by his daughter, Maria. Together, they carry on the vision that began decades ago—serving honest, home-style Afghan meals rooted in family tradition. Their dedication to quality and authenticity is reflected in every plate they serve.
From tender kabobs grilled to perfection to richly seasoned rice dishes and savory stews, Panjshir offers more than just food—it offers a cultural experience. Guests are welcomed as part of the family and invited to enjoy the warmth, generosity, and time-honored recipes that have made this restaurant a cherished part of the community for generations.
